Short-Term Care

Superior Clinical Care & Post-hospital Rehabilitation

Our post-hospital rehabilitation program offers several services to help you recover as quickly as possible.

Physical Therapy

Physical injury or surgery requires time to heal. Ashton staff will closely monitor our rehabilitation patients and their progress. Once healing has progressed, specific exercises are needed to heal completely. Our facility has on-staff physical therapists trained to ensure that physical therapy is done correctly and efficiently in our therapy room.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy revolves around how an injury affects your daily life. Some injuries can require significant changes in daily routine and activity. Occupational therapy seeks to modify or change aspects of your daily routine and activities to maintain your quality of life.

Speech Therapy

Speech therapy covers speaking and language difficulties. Neurological diseases and trauma can cause speech difficulty. Our speech therapists are experienced in this field and can help you overcome these obstacles.

Wound Care

Our wound care nurse tends to residents’ wounds to relieve pain and ensure wounds are properly cleaned so healing can occur as quickly as possible. Chronic, non-healing wounds require great care to ensure they don’t affect the quality of life and lead to infection.

IV Therapy

Intravenous (IV) care is an important component of any hospital treatment, as it keeps patients hydrated on top of other health benefits. IV Therapy is available in both short and long-term care options.

Hydrocollator

Hydrocollators are specialized heating devices that heat special packs of water, which are then applied to various areas of the body to relieve pain and relax the muscles.

Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy is more or less the opposite of the hydrocollator. It utilizes cold compresses and devices to relieve everything from pain to swelling. Cryotherapy can be anything from a simple ice pack to an ice bath.

Wii-hab And Xbox Kinect

Representing some of the latest forms of therapy, these services utilize the Wii and Xbox game consoles with motion control to help in physical therapy. Gaming adds a level of fun to your rehabilitation and can make physical therapy enjoyable.

Short-wave Diathermy

SWD involves the use of a device called a Tens Unit. Tens Units have pads connected to them that are then attached to parts of the body requiring attention. When the device is turned on, these pads emit a subtle and low-powered electrical current that simulates massage. This device works wonders for stiff joints and tight muscles.

Diabetes Management And Education

Diabetes is a serious condition, but with knowledge and regulation, this health issue can be managed. We have methods available to help diabetic residents. Our staff will also instruct you on how best to address your needs post-rehab.
